His snare and floor tom angles freak me out but I love his playing! That was hot stuff, can't wait to get the DVD.

Derek and I watched a bunch of drum videos yesterday, good times. We watched most of the MD stuff, some of that Hass stuff with Manhattan Vibes too.

The stuff that impressed me the most was JO JO on the MD fest. He played some amazing grooves on there with some very nice arrangements that despite never really having a melody, didn't get old. The drum grooves are the melody and focus. The other guys are there to back him up it seems, and it worked. He wasn't blowing or soloing the whole time. He changed the voicings of the grooves enough to keep things fresh. Technically I was very impressed with his ease and cleanliness. It was new and refreshing; a combination of drum geek stuff, good music, good presentation. And it when it came time to solo he has that happening too from his fusion roots.
I liked Keiths performace but Jo Jo dominated for me. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I'm not usually too much of a fan of Carlock's playing, but this is pretty special. I like the band he's playing with too - pretty rockin.
